INDEPENDENT BROWSER UTILITIES

About Tool Island Lab.

Tool Island Lab is an independently developed collection of practical, free browser utilities for working with PDFs, image metadata and everyday files. Our aim is to make small tasks easier without asking you to create an account or upload document contents to our application server.

What you can do here

The PDF Date & Deadline Extractor reads dates from text-based PDFs, offers optional in-browser OCR, and lets you review dates before exporting a calendar file. The privacy toolbox includes photo GPS checking, metadata viewing, image resizing, WebP conversion, visual redaction, SHA-256 checksums and PDF page extraction.

How we build and test

These tools use established browser APIs and open-source libraries, including PDF.js, Tesseract.js, chrono-node and pdf-lib. We publish reproducible synthetic PDF benchmark notes; synthetic fixture success is not a claim of real-document or OCR accuracy. Limitations appear next to each tool.

What local-first means

File contents are processed in your browser by the current tools, not uploaded to our application backend. Website hosting, fonts and third-party advertising libraries can still make separate network requests; see our Privacy Policy for the distinction.
